John Douglas (R-Social Circle) has recently been appointed co-chairman to the newly-formed National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) Military Sustainability Task Force. The purpose of the new task force is to examine and assist in military-community relations and create policy to improve the health and well-being of veterans.
ATLANTA (January 9, 2009) – State Sen. John Douglas (R-Social Circle) was re-appointed Senate Veterans, Military and Homeland Security Committee Chairman for the 2009-10 sessions of the Georgia General Assembly by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle. The committee exists to maintain Senate oversight for veterans’ services, National Guard activities and homeland security efforts in Georgia.
ATLANTA (December 30, 2008) – State Senator John Douglas (R-Social Circle) has pre-filed Senate Bill 14 to help protect school children from sexual predators. The bill simply amends current state law by adding that no one on the National Sex Offender Registry or the state sexual offender registry can be elected to serve on a local board of education.
