Staton Elected Senate Republican Caucus Vice-Chairman

Trauma Funding in GA may soon be a Reality

ATLANTA (April 29, 2010) – Critical funding for Georgia’s trauma care network may soon be a reality from legislation sponsored by Sen. Cecil Staton (R-Macon).  Senate Resolution 277, which passed the Georgia General Assembly today, would create the Georgia Trauma Trust Fund (GTTF) if Georgia voters approve the measure this November.  The fund would become the state’s first dedicated funding source for the statewide trauma network, possibly generating up to $90 million a year.

Senate Passes Staton’s Penalty Increase for Illegal Massage Parlors

ATLANTA (March 17, 2010) – The Georgia Senate joined with Sen. Cecil Staton (R-Macon) Wednesday at the State Capitol to help law enforcement officials stop suspected illegal activities at massage parlors and spas. The Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 364, a measure Staton authored to give local police and prosecutors additional resources and provide for more severe penalties by clearing up several loopholes in Georgia law.  SB 364 was approved with a 51 to 0 vote.
