Senate Passes Clarence Thomas Monument Bill

ATLANTA (February 14, 2023) | Today, the Georgia State Senate passed Senate Bill 69. Sponsored by Sen. Ben Watson (R – Savannah), it would provide placement of a monument for the Honorable Clarence Thomas within the capitol building or the capitol grounds. Funding for the monument would be collected from gifts or donations given by individuals, organizations and foundations. A monument committee would be established to discuss the placement of the monument and would consist of two State Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House, two State Senators appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, and one from each chamber appointed by the Governor.

Sen. Ben Watson Participates in 1115 and 1332 Waiver Stakeholder Kickoff Meeting

ATLANTA (July 19, 2019) | Yesterday, Sen. Ben Watson (R – Savannah) participated in the Department of Community Health’s Stakeholder Kickoff Meeting for the 1115 and 1332 Waivers. These waivers were made available to be applied for by Senate Bill 106, also known as the Patients First Act, which was passed in the 2019 Legislative Session and signed by Governor Brian P. July 1st marks the beginning of a new fiscal year and the implementation of many of the bills we passed this session that were signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp.
