Senator Tommie Williams Receives 2015 ACCG Legislative Service Award
ATLANTA (Oct. 30, 2015) | ACCG, Georgia’s county association, recently honored Sen. Tommie Williams (R – Lyons) with the 2015 Legislative Service Award. Sen. Williams serves the residents of Appling, Jeff Davis, Long, Montgomery, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Wayne, and Wheeler counties and portions of Liberty and Tattnall counties. He is the Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee and a member of the Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Appropriations, Natural Resources and Environment, and Reapportionment and Redistricting Committees. Distinguished service members were awarded the Vietnam Certificate of Honor, a program created by The Georgia Department of Veterans Service in partnership with the Office of Governor Nathan Deal in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Sen. Vincent Fort to Join Peoplestown Residents at City Hall for All Night Sleep In Protest
ATLANTA (October 22, 2015) | Sen. Vincent Fort (D- Atlanta) will attend an all night sleep in protest to support the Atlanta neighborhood of Peoplestown, TODAY, October 22, 2015 beginning at 6:30 p.m., encouraging City Hall to find a suitable solution for residents that doesn’t displace them or destroy their homes. Although city officials have agreed to abandon plans to demolish 93-year-old Ms. Mattie Jackson’s home, other residents still face similar challenges with no plans to leave the community they helped create.
