Sen. Frank Ginn and Mayor Nancy Denson Honor Willie “W.C.” Bolton on the Occasion of His Retirement with Senate Resolution 77

Frank Ginn (R – Danielsville), Athens Mayor Nancy Denson, and the entire board honored the retirement of Willie “W.C.” Bolton with the presentation of Senate Resolution 77 on Tuesday, March 17. Mayor Denson presented Mr. Bolton with a treasured key to the City of Athens for his dedicated and meritorious service.  The presentation was held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Northeast Board Meeting in Athens. Bolton served for 42 years in law enforcement, including time spent as a deputy sheriff and working multiple positions in government associations. (more…)

Sen. Donzella James Seeks to Make Youth Football Safer with the Passage of Senate Bill 176

ATLANTA (March 18, 2015) | Last week, Sen. Donzella James (D – Atlanta) led the passage of Senate Bill 176 through the State Senate. SB 176 will strongly encourage youth athletes participating in organized football to wear helmets with a minimum of four stars on the Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings scale. (more…)

Georgia Senate Expands the Use of SPLOST Proceeds

ATLANTA (March 16, 2015) | Senate Bill 122, sponsored by Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga), will allow Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds to be used for the repair of capital outlay projects. (more…)
