Senate Passes “Celebrate Freedom Week” Bill

ATLANTA (February 26, 2013) – The Senate passed Senate Bill 68 by a vote of 42 to 8. Sponsored by Sen. William Ligon (R-Brunswick), this bill establishes the week of September 17th as “Celebrate Freedom Week” in Georgia Public Schools. If passed into law, this bill will require at least three hours of related instruction and recitation of important historical writings during the week. Sen. Albers introduces bill to provide health insurance for children with Autism

ATLANTA (February 26, 2013) – Sen. John Albers (R –Roswell) introduced SB 191, also known as “Ava’s Law,” during Georgia Disabilities Day at the State Capitol on Thursday, February 21, 2013. Sen. Majority Leader Ronnie Chance Applauds Senate Passage of HB 57

ATLANTA (February 25, 2013) – Senate Majority Leader Ronnie Chance (R – Tyrone) commends the Georgia State Senate for its passage of House Bill 57, which revises Georgia code to expand the definition of Schedule I controlled substances. The revisions specifically target compounds used to manufacture synthetic marijuana. HB 57 was sponsored by Sen. Buddy Carter (R – Pooler) and is a swift response to manufacturers who changed the chemical make-up of the drug after SB 370 was signed into law in 2012. Continue reading “Sen.
