Senate Passes SB 371: Local Governments’ Ability to Control Airports and Landing Fields

ATLANTA (February 29, 2012) – The Senate passed SB 371 on Tuesday, Feb. 28.  Sen. Lindsey Tippins (R-Marietta) authored the bill that expands cooperative agreements between local governments and community improvement districts so that CID funds can be used for the improvement of airports and landing fields within the CID.  CIDs are designated areas where the commercial property owners vote to impose a self tax.  The revenue is collected and given to the board of directors elected by the property owners to augment existing services.  SB 371 passed with a vote of 51 – 4.

Sen. Gooch Named to the Georgia Adult Literacy Advocates 2012 Legislative Literacy Honor Roll

ATLANTA (February 29, 2012) – Sen. Steve Gooch (R-Dahlonega) was named to the 2012 Legislative Literacy Honor Roll at the Capitol on Monday by the Georgia Adult Literacy Advocates. The 2012 Legislative Literacy Honor Roll recognizes elected officials who are dedicated to promoting adult literacy and education throughout their communities.

Sen. Tippins Recognizes Miss Cherokee Rose Outstanding Teen 2012

ATLANTA (February 28, 2012) – Sen. Lindsey Tippins (R-Marietta) welcomed local student Anna Tucker, freshman at North Cobb Christian School, to the Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 21.  Tucker participated in the Senate Page Program for the day and was honored with Senate Resolution 860 for her achievements as Miss Cherokee Rose Outstanding Teen for 2012.
