“Stop the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children” Lobby Day

ATLANTA (January 31, 2012) – Sen. Renee Unterman (R-Buford) will participate in a press conference on Wednesday February 1, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. as part of the “Stop the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Lobby Day” at the Georgia State Capitol. Sen. Unterman will be joined by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, Attorney General Sam Olens, Rep. Edward Lindsey, and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

Bill Allowing Use of Silencers on Hunting Firearms Passes Senate

ATLANTA (January 31, 2012) – The Georgia Senate passed SB 301 today, which if enacted, would allow the use of a firearm silencer for hunting purposes. The bill passed on a 48-5 vote and was sponsored by Sen. John Bulloch (R-Ochlocknee).

One-Day Saltwater Fishing License Passes Senate

ATLANTA (January 31, 2012) –The Georgia Senate today passed Senate Bill 307 by a vote of 52 to 1. Sponsored by Senator William Ligon (R-Waverly), this legislation creates a one-day salt-water fishing license that can be purchased by residents and non-residents for a fee of $5.00.

Taylor’s Law Passes the Senate to Grant Terminally Ill Special Hunting Privileges

ATLANTA (January 31, 2012) –Senate Bill 309, “Taylor’s Law,” passed the Georgia State Senate today by a vote of 53 to 1. Introduced by Senator Rick Jeffares (R-Locust Grove)), SB 309 allows state officials to grant special hunting privileges to anyone 21 years or younger with a terminal illness, provided they have proper supervision and abide by state hunting rules and regulations.

Condominium Oversight Bill Passes Senate

ATLANTA (January 31, 2012) – The Georgia Senate today passed SB 136, granting unit owners the right to file a petition in superior court in order to gain oversight of the condominium’s homeowners association. The bill passed unanimously with a vote of 55 – 0 and was sponsored by Sen. Bill Hamrick (R-Carrollton).
