DAWSONVILLE (October 7, 2010) – Like the dreaded winter flu that takes hold ache by ache, health care reform has gradually begun seeping into the American bloodstream.  While Congressional House Republicans are pledging to repeal the entire health care bill, in the meantime the first wave of provisions has already kicked into gear.  Though a few of the new changes may be beneficial to some, they are part of an overall reform package that expands government intrusion in the health care marketplace and hurts an already ailing economy.  Following is a breakdown of the changes that are taking effect:

CANCELLED: SACS President to Address DeKalb County Legislators on School Board Governance

ATLANTA (October 5, 2010) – DeKalb County lawmakers will hear from Dr. Mark Elgart, president and CEO of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), during their meeting on Thursday, Oct. 21 at the State Capitol, co-chaired by Sen. Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur).  The discussion will focus on school board governance issues in the State of Georgia, and the public is encouraged to attend.

Sen. Jones to Host Henry County Town Hall Meeting

ATLANTA (October 5, 2010) – Sen. Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur) will host a town hall meeting in conjunction with the Henry County NAACP on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Fairview Elementary School.  Candidates running for local office in Henry County will attend, including candidates for the local school board, county commission and legislature.  The meeting will include a panel discussion and a question and answer session.  The public is invited to attend.
