Senator Rogers Sponsored Measure to Reform Georgia’s Tax System Becomes Law

WOODSTOCK (June 2, 2010) – Governor Sonny Perdue has signed into law House Bill 1405, legislation creating the Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians.  Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) sponsored the legislation through the Senate.  The council will be charged with weeding through Georgia’s cumbersome tax system to bring balance, transparency and fairness to Georgia taxpayers.  Rogers will be one of 12 leaders selected to sit on the special tax reform committee. Wiles’ Transparency in Lawsuits Protection Act becomes Law

Georgia First in Nation to Tackle Implied Rights to Sue

KENNESAW (June 2, 2010) – Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue today signed into law Senate Majority Whip John Wiles’ (R-Kennesaw) Transparency in Lawsuits Protection Act (SB 138). The focus of SB 138 is clarifying the law regarding plaintiffs’ right to bring a lawsuit for violation of state law while saving valuable court resources.
